Apps All RVers Need

After a full year of traveling in my Jayco Redhawk 26XD, I quickly learned that there are some apps that I couldn't travel without.

Harvest Host - Boondockers Welcome

I was previously using both Harvest Host and Boondockers. However, recently the two companies have merged, allowing users to select from various different locations to camp. When planning trips, I have booked Harvest Host stays in the past. These stays are typically on farms and wineries, which means they have some perks associated with the location. Although, the best perk of all is with your yearly subscription, subscribers can stay at any host location that you want as often as you want for FREE! The only catch is that hosts typically ask for campers to support their businesses by buying their products. Which in my case, has never been an issue. I’ve had both good and bad experiences, but the good outweigh the bad. This is a fun way to stay at unique locations and meet some really great people!

Trucker Path

Tucker Path was incredibly useful when I was traveling through New York. There were several roads and locations in New York that wouldn’t be safe for my RV. Users pay a monthly fee to use this app, but it’s always made me feel safe with my travel routes. Another handy feature offered by Tucker Path, is it will show users exactly where all truck stops are located, giving me access to locations I can easily fit my unit for refueling. I will only fill-up the Redhawk at Loves, Flying J or Pilot due to its size. Don't forget if you are towing with your rig, you will really need that extra space! I’ve also filled up both my RV and Jeep at the same time… which always makes for a funny scene.

Campendium

The app Campendium I truly didn't know I needed. It shows users Public Land, Rv Parks, Free overnight parking and dumping stations near you! I use this app multiple times a week and honestly have found some really neat places to boondock. I typically use this app the most in order to find dumping stations along my travel routes.

Hipcamp

I have used the Hipcamp app about a dozen times. It's like Airbnb but for RVers and tent campers! Hipcamp allows you to book your stay for as little as a few days or even weeks. My favorite thing about this service is that they have tons of locations that offer full RV hook-ups. However, I have stayed at a few sites that didn’t offer hook-ups, which was fine for our adventures at that time. It’s very affordable and the hosts have always been super nice and accommodating to me.
